I've felt the sweet bond that families can have since "Day One" - the blessings of having a stay-at-home Mom, who taught us how to look at the humor in life, keep a clean house, organize, follow-through, and be an example of how a woman shows respect and love to a husband. My father emitted patience, was soft-spoken, kind, and wiser than any man I'd ever known. Together, our parents were devoted to raising us, protecting us, and guiding us to be the best we could be. My sisters and I wore braids, rode bicycles and played in the desert. Leaving home for college came all too soon. Marriages soon took us to different towns, and our family grew to include each wonderful new child. Getting together at Mom and Dad's home each Christmas was eagerly anticipated. One year, Dad suggested each family enjoy their own Christmas separately. We were miserable and continued our get-together tradition the following years so we could all be together. Fulfilling dreams, then overcoming challenges that seemed unbearable became "do-able" when my parents came to my side, and sisters' hands found mine. Children also drove or flew to be with me to calm my heart. The sweet bond of family love has lasted throughout the years and the example shown by my parents has grown to include another generation. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for showing us the importance of family ties and how to serve each other. Your spirits live on.
