As the political rhetoric over what to do in Iraq continues to heat up, I just want to say thank you to the troops. While we debate here at home, they continue to be in the middle of a war zone. They put their lives at risk everyday. Putting down their weapons and taking a pause while the politicians sort things out back home is not an option for them. They must move forward each and every day, regardless of whether the public sentiment is in favor or against the war. Whatever the fallout from what is happening in Washington DC, it is clear that our troops are putting their lives on the line for each of us back here at home. I'm sure it does not feel quite the same for them today as it did at the beginning of the war. I can remember sitting in an airport lobby when a soldier returning home from duty came walking through the terminal with friends and family in tow, each carrying signs and banners. A man stood up and started to clap. Then more of us, until everyone in the terminal was standing and applauding our returning warrior. I was a moving experience for everyone there. I just wonder how many of our soldiers are receiving the same praise and respect today. They are certainly doing the same job for the same people, with the same risks and expectations. So if they have not heard it recently, thank you to all our troops.
