The older I get, the more appreciative I am for wonderful parents that gave me the foundation I needed to open my mind and heart to the good things our Heavenly Father offers. My mother taught me so much! She centered her world around my father and her children. She set the stage for the respect we felt for our father and authority. ("Here he comes! He's worked so hard for us! Brush your hair and run meet him!!") She sewed our clothes, taught us the importance of a clean home, how to "pitch in" and help, humor, and love for music. My father taught me patience. "Dad, we'll NEVER get this Christmas tree stand straight!" "Yes, we will. If we keep working at it, we'll get it just right!" He was an example of the meaning of trust, how to overcome challenges, and what it means to support one another with love. They both gave me space to find the religion of my choice, and supported my decision - of which I am eternally grateful. Their example planted the seeds for love of my heritage, my country, and the importance of preserving freedom. I pray to be worthy to be with them again someday.
