I'd like to say "Thanks" to my mom this Mothers Day. For all of the things she has done, both big and small to show how much she loves me. Since I was a little boy she has nurtured, supported and educated me. When I was 3 years old she saved me from drowning. When I had the chance to travel as a teenager, she enouraged me. Whether it was sports, student governement, school, or work - she has only had kind and supportive words. I remember when I was about 11 years old I enjoyed watching Star Trek, the original TV series with that guy from the Priceline commercials. My mom shared with me that she liked it too. She thought the idea that all of the different races were working together as one unit on the ship. The black woman, the asian male, the alien "Mr. Spock" were part of a team that showed complete respect to one another and tremendous capabilities in thier area of expertise. It was from my mom that I initially learned to treat all people with equal respect, no matter the color of their skin, nor country of origin. It was a lesson that my father would also reinforce with me as I grew up and worked with him. The importance of respecting a peron for who they are and what they contribute is a lesson that I am grateful to have been taught at such an early age. Today I am always so proud of you mom. For the love you share with everyone in our family, and for the constant willingness to do anything for anyone. While "I love you" is often said betwen us, I just want you to know that it is so much more than just a casual greeting. Have a very happy Mothers Day. I love you. And I mean it.
