I flew next to a young man, maybe 19 years old who was in the Marines and heading to Iraq in a few weeks. We made small talk on the flight, talking about his training, his family, and his girlfriend. His attitude was that he had a chance to make a contribution to the world. Help make a place and its people more democratic and self-reliant. And it was his greatest joy to serve his country. I shook his hand as we left the plane and said thanks. I pray you are safe and God is watching over you.
